MYRTLE BEACH — Georgetown County deputies seized 12 heroin bindles, a small amount of marijuana and charged a 24-year-old man with possession of the drugs outside a Sampit business, according to a news release.
Anthony Brent Armstead, 24, of Georgetown was charged with possession with intent to distribute heroin and simple possession of marijuana after officers took him into custody without incident about 3:30 a.m. Monday outside of Browns Sugar Shack at Powell Road and Saints Delight Road, police said.
Deputies saw a large crowd and smelled the odor of marijuana outside the business while they walked through the parking lot, according to the release. Deputies saw the multiple bindles of what appeared to be heroin in view inside a vehicle.
Armstead came out of the business, unlocked and got inside the vehicle, according to the release. Police took him into custody and he is being held at the Georgetown County Detention Center pending a bond hearing.
