Coastal Carolina senior Anthony Raffa was announced as a first-team All-Big South Conference selection Sunday after ranking second in the league in scoring during the regular season.
Raffa, who averaged 19.0 points per game, scored at least 20 in 15 of Coastal’s games and ranks second on the team with 41 assists and 52 steals. A second-team All-Big South selection last year, he ranks eighth all time in career scoring for the Chants with 1,447 points.
He is the lone Coastal player honored in the league’s awards this season.
VMI senior forward Stan Okoye was voted the Big South’s Player of the Year after leading the conference in scoring at 21.5 points per game and rebounding (9.2 per game).
Charleston Southern sophomore guard Saah Nimley, High Point redshirt-freshman forward John Brown and UNC Asheville senior forward Jeremy Atkinson rounded out the first-team selections.
The second-team consisted of High Point graduate forward Allan Chaney, Gardner-Web senior guard Tashan Newsome, Campbell sophomore guard Trey Freeman, Radford sophomore forward Javonte Green and Charleston Southern sophomore guard Arlon Harper.
VMI junior forward D.J. Covington was named Defensive Player of the Year and Gardner-Webb’s Chris Holtmann was named Coach of the Year.
