Visitors to downtown Myrtle Beach and in Surfside Beach have to start feeding parking meters Friday until the tourist season is over next fall.
In both towns, the meters kicked in Friday after the usual winter off. Myrtle Beach’s will stay up through Sept. 30, while Surfside Beach’s will stay up until Oct. 31.
In Myrtle Beach, drivers parking along Eighth and Ninth avenues North won’t have to fumble for coins, though. Crews installed 82 meters along those roads that also accept credit cards.
The meters in Myrtle Beach are east of Kings Highway, from 31st Avenue North to 29th Avenue South and from 69th Avenue North to 77th Avenue North, as well as at the streetend at 53rd Avenue North.
