Coastal Carolina football coach Joe Moglia announced the addition of Austin Larkin to the Chanticleers’ 2013 recruiting class.

Larkin, a 6-3, 220-pound linebacker from San Ramon, Calif. who attends Dougherty Valley High school, is the nephew of former Cincinnati Reds star and Hall of Famer Barry Larkin.

CCU men’s golf

•  The Coastal Carolina men’s golf team was making a move up the leaderboard at the John Hayt Collegiate Invitational, but rain forced the golfers off the course and ultimately the round was canceled, leaving the 36-hole scores as the official final results.

The Chants tied for ninth at 15-over 591. CCU’s Sebastian Soderberg recorded his fourth top 10 finish in six events this season, tying for seventh.

CCU women’s golf

•  Jessica Alexander turned in the 14th top-10 finish of her career in leading Coastal Carolina to a tie for sixth place at the inaugural Cal Classic.

Alexander carded a 3-over 75 on the final 18 holes of the 36-hole tournament en route to finish the event with a 147, tying for ninth. The Chants finished at 30-over 603.

CCU’s Frida Castillo (74) tied for 22nd (152), Brittany Henderson (78) tied for 27th (153), Lena Schaeffner (78) tied for 29th (154) and Marissa Hinchman (80) finished 52nd (161).

Myrtle Beach Pelicans

The Myrtle Beach Pelicans announced Monday that they have extended their radio deal with Cumulus Media to broadcast all 140 regular season games on Fox Sports AM 1050 and FM 101.9 on the Grand Strand.

Travis Lucian joins the Pelicans as the new lead play-by-play voice and media relations manager. Last season he called games for the South Bend Silver Hawks in the Midwest League.

Each Wednesday while the Pelicans are home, the “Pelicans Insider” show will air on Fox Sports AM 1050 and FM 101.9 from noon to 1 PM live from Abuelo’s Mexican Restaurant in Myrtle Beach.

Each broadcast will include a 15-minute pre- and postgame show. The broadcast will be available at myrtlebeachpelicans.com as well as on iHeart radio on mobile devices.
