MYRTLE BEACH — Producers from a Black Entertainment Television music-video show are in the process of bringing their program to Myrtle Beach this April to film their show.

A small crew from BET’s “ 106 & Park” is planning to visit the city April 12 and 13 to film along the Myrtle Beach Boardwalk, according to an application for a special events permit.

“106 & Park” is a video-countdown show that airs Monday through Friday and serves as the flagship program on BET. Filming in Myrtle Beach would consist of two cameras and two or three of the show’s four hosts shooting on the boardwalk. The episode would air a week after it was filmed.

This is the first time the network would film in Myrtle Beach, according to Natalie Peterkin, production coordinator with “106 & Park.” The show will spend one week on the road each month through September with plans to also stop in Miami, she said.

“We chose Myrtle Beach because we would like to have the option to be outside with a nice backdrop of a beach/boardwalk,” Peterkin said in an email.

Representatives from the show plan to head to Myrtle Beach in the next week or so to look for potential filming locations along the boardwalk.

The special event permit is on the agenda to be discussed 9:30 a.m. Wednesday during the Special Events Technical Review Committee meeting in the first-floor conference room of City Hall, 937 Broadway St. The committee has not yet approved the permit.
