Police charge three with prostitution

Myrtle Beach police charged three women with prostitution Tuesday evening, according to arrest reports.

Brooks Allisonanne Hankins, 32, and Kimberly Anne Rosenblatt, 21, both of Myrtle Beach and Brittney Alexis Gregson, 20, of Cameron, N.C., were each charged with first-offense prostitution, according to their arrest reports.

The women were arrested along Moser Drive and at Reed Street at Howard Avenue, according to the reports.

Hankins was charged at 7:40 p.m. Tuesday, while Rosenblatt and Gregson were charged at 11:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Police investigate robbery of cash, food

Myrtle Beach police are investigating a robbery where a man had cash and his groceries stolen, according to a police report.

The 44-year-old victim told police he was riding home on his mo-ped about 2 a.m. Wednesday and stopped on Mr. Joe White Avenue near Oak Street for a man, who flagged him down, according to the report.

The victim said the man punched him in the face and someone reached into his pocket and stole $30 and his groceries from his mo-ped.

Officers noted the man had a cut on his head where his helmet would have been and there was no blood splatter on the helmet.

EMS took the victim to Grand Strand Regional Medical Center for treatment and detectives are investigating.

One killed in crash near Loris

State troopers are investigating a crash near Loris Wednesday afternoon that resulted in one death.

The crash happened around 4:50 p.m. at the intersection of S.C. 348 and S.C. 9 Business, near Loris, according to Sr. Trooper Bridget Wyant.

She said the two trucks involved were going the same direction on S.C. 9.

The identity of the driver who was killed was not released Wednesday. The other driver was not injured, Wyant said.

Wyant said both vehicles were traveling southbound on S.C. 9. when one slowed to make a turn, the other went around it and off the road to the right. She said the second vehicle overcorrected to the left, and struck the rear of the first vehicle then went off the road and the driver was ejected.

Man faces attempted murder charges

A Myrtle Beach man facing attempted murder and weapons charges surrendered to police Tuesday, according to authorities.

Antonio Felip Campbell, 30, of Myrtle Beach was taken into custody at 12:10 p.m. Tuesday at the Myrtle Beach Police Department. He is charged with two counts of attempted murder and one count of possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime, according to Myrtle Beach police. Campbell was being held at the Myrtle Beach Jail.

A woman called police about 4:45 p.m. Feb. 12 to say she saw a man in a black Lincoln going west on Nance Street fire three gunshots from the car, according to a police report.

The witness said her 29-year-old son and his girlfriend were in a nearby vehicle and she believed the gunman may have tried to shoot her son.

The woman filed the report with police, but her son did not speak to police and did not want police involvement in the incident, according to the report.

Honors go to adult education staff

James Pate, Sharon Rabon and Linda Suter were honored for their work with Horry County Schools Adult and Community Education at the Adult Education Practitioners’ Spring Training Day in Columbia Friday, according to a news release from Horry County Adult Education. Hosted by the S.C. Department of Adult Education, the conference featured concurrent workshops and an awards ceremony for teachers and staff from across the state.

The S.C. Association of Adult and Continuing Education (SCAACE) presented awards to teachers and staff from among the state’s five adult education regions. Region IV includes Horry County Adult Education, together with Chesterfield, Clarendon, Darlington, Dillon, Florence, Marion, Marlboro and Williamsburg adult education programs.

Earning Region IV top awards were math teacher Jim Pate, full-time Teacher of the Year; diploma and GED teacher Linda Suter, Part-time Teacher of the Year; and bookkeeper Sheri Rabon, Paraprofessional/Administrative Assistant of the Year.

Other Horry County Adult Education staff members nominated and recognized include transition specialist Tony Kroll, teacher Cynthia Pate, administrative assistant Pamela Rabon and English as a Second Language teacher Gretchen Saule.

John “Jack” McGeough, a long-time volunteer and Horry County Schools substitute teacher, was nominated for the Citizenship Leadership Award for his work with the Myrtle Beach Family Learning Center.

Pate and teachers Jan Camp, Kathy Mishoe, Lisa Burgess, as well as Director Virginia Simmons, presented educational workshops during the conference. The workshops provided information on English as a Second Language and adult education high school diploma courses in English IV and Algebra II.
