Marsicano Jr., Ghantt win Match Game championships

The Grand Strand Bowling 2013 Match Games were held at the Waccamaw Bowling Center on Sunday with Sal Marsicano, Jr. winning the Classic Division over 16 other bowlers defeating Ken Shealy 228-214. The rolloff began with Darryl Reed defeating Alex Shand 245-218. Reed then lost to Marsicano 223-211. Shealy averaged 232 during the six game qualifying block and Marsicano rolled a high game of 269.

The Senior Division had a relatively low turnout with nine bowlers competing. Ray Ghantt beat Barry Barthelman in an exciting final game 226-224 by striking with his final five shots. Barthelman was the high qualifier averaging 228 with a high game of 269. The opening match found Ghantt beating David Hawes 268-225. He then outscored Tom Marangelli 223-202 to qualify for the final match against Barthelman.
