I live in an area where there are no sidewalks or accessible parks. There are many residents, both children and adults, in need of a place to come together as a community. I live just off of Lucas Bay Road, close to U.S. 701. This area is very isolated and in dire need of a park.
Officials, please come down and visit the area to better understand our needs. I have sent many emails to various authorities, many of which either do not respond or pass the responsibility aside. I am asking the planning and zoning officials to examine the area and see if the city or county has land to designate for a park. If not, please consider installing a sidewalk or walking path over the bridge to connect us to the trails near the wildlife refuge.
Our district, on the Horry County map, is technically a part of Pawleys Swamp, yet my closest neighbors across the street are a part of another. We consider ourselves a part of Bucksport, simply because this is the direction in which we travel, Lucas Bay Road being a dirt road and frequently flooded. That being said it would also benefit our area to have walking or biking paths along U.S. 701.
I thank you in advance for getting the wheels of government turning.
The writer lives in Bucksport.
