Surfside Beach meters an unwelcome surprise

February 16, 2013

We reside full time at north Seaside Drive in Surfside Beach. We purchased and built our home here in 1996. We fell in love with this town, fondly referred to as “the family Beach.” In 2007, we retired here. We never rented, as we wanted our children to visit often and enjoy all that Surfside Beach has to offer.

On Feb. 6, we learned, via The Sun News, that the city would be installing parking meters up and down our north Seaside Drive. We had not been informed of this. When we learned what was happening, it was already a done deal. We feel that our elected officials are not looking out for our best interest, and we will certainly, along with some friends, will remember this on Election Day.

The writers live in Surfside Beach.
