A Longs man was indicted on an attempted murder charge by an Horry County grand jury in connection with the shooting of a man as he walked a woman to her car at a party, according to court records.

Darrell Bellamy, 47, of Longs was indicted the charge in indictments released last week. He was arrested Nov. 12 and released hours later on $5,000 bail.

The charge stemmed from Horry County police being called at 10:30 p.m. Nov. 10 to 4051 Lincoln Heights Road in Little River, according to a police report. Officers learned from the 30-year-old victim that he saw Bellamy and his wife arguing, so he interrupted them and asked Bellamy to leave the house.

The victim told officers that Bellamy refused and was physically removed from the party, according to the report. The victim said Bellamy got into his vehicle and drove into the street, stopped and then got out of the sport utility vehicle.

The victim said Bellamy walked up and said “I have something for you,” then pulled a handgun from his waistband and fired it, according to the report. The victim ran from the area. No one was hurt.
