The annual “We Love Our Snowbirds” reception, organized by the North Myrtle Beach Chamber of Commerce, is set for 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday at Myrtle Beach Mall, 10177 N. Kings Highway.
Between 800 and 850 snowbirds attended the event last year, and organizers expect at least that many – if not more – today.
The reception includes free munchies, and at least 30 businesses will be on hand distributing information, including restaurants, hotels, stores, theaters and medical providers.
Snowbirds, usually retired folks from Canada or the Northeast who flock to warmer climates such as Myrtle Beach to escape the harsh winters at home, are key to the Grand Strand’s off-season economy.
