Occupy Myrtle Beach movement alive and well

February 12, 2013

Occupy Myrtle Beach is alive and well even though the government tried to intimidate and squash Occupy last year. No government can squash the human spirit. We feel strongly about getting money out of politics, restoring the right to protest, stopping drones and repealing the provisions in the National Defense Authorization Act that we believe allow the government to detain indefinitely without due process any American anywhere and not allow that American to see the light of day in a U.S. court, detaining them only on the suspicion of supporting terrorism.

Occupy Myrtle Beach coordinated a strike Tuesday, Lincoln’s birthday, asking people not to buy anything on that day. Our demands are: (1) money out of politics, (2) restore the right to protest, (3) repeal the provisions of the National Defense Authorization Act described above that we believe would allow the indefinite detention of any American anywhere without due process only on the suspicion of supporting terrorism, and (4) stop drones.
