CONWAY — A 28-year-old man was indicted on an involuntary manslaughter charge in connection with the death of a 22-month-old boy, who died in an all-terrain vehicle crash, according to Horry County grand jury indictments released last week.
Christopher Eugene Stamey, 28, of Conway, was indicted on a charge that stemmed from the April 6 death of 22-month-old Mason Stamey, according to court records.
Christopher Stamey was arrested on April 16, and released that same day on $10,000 bail, according to jail records.
The toddler died from head injuries while being treated at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, according to officials.
The crash occurred on April 1 along Pee Dee Highway and police said Christopher Stamey was operating an ATV on private property that turned over.
Mason Stamey was not wearing the required head protection while being ridden on the ATV, police said. Anyone under the age of 16 must wear a helmet while riding an ATV.
