MYRTLE BEACH — A Tabor City, N.C., woman and a Loris man are indicted on murder charges related to the shooting death of the woman’s 66-year-old husband and his 40-year-old son last year, according to court records released last week.

An Horry County grand jury indicted Sandy Lee Locklear, 41, and Nehemiah James Evans, 28, each on two counts of murder in the shooting deaths of Amos Hatfield, 66, and his son, Thomas Howard Hatfield, 40, according to indictments released Friday.

Locklear also was indicted on a charge of filing a false police report stemming from a first-degree criminal sexual conduct charge, according to records. Evans also was indicted for first-degree burglary charge.

Locklear and Evans remain jailed at J. Reuben Long Detention Center without bond, according to jail records. Police charged Locklear on Aug. 19, and arrested Evans Aug. 24.

Amos Hatfield had purchased a home for Locklear, his wife, on Fair Bluff Road in Tabor City on June 12, but he resided with his son in another home he owned on Red Bluff Road in Loris.

The Hatfields were found dead from gunshot wounds about 4:30 a.m. Aug. 19 inside the home they shared.

After Evans’ arrest, police said they believed Locklear conspired with him and another man, Odom Bryan Bryant, 22, of Tabor City, N.C., to rob and kill her husband and his son, Horry County police Sgt. Robert Kegler said.

Bryant also was charged in the incident, but he was not indicted by the grand jury, according to the records.
