Horry County police charged two teens in connection with a fight on a Carolina Forest High School bus where one teen threatened to cut the other teen’s throat, according to a police report.

Loggan Taylor Courtney, 17, of Little River was booked into J. Reuben Long Detention Center at 9:31 a.m. Wednesday and remained there Thursday morning pending a bond hearing, according to jail records. Courtney was charged with third-degree assault and disturbing schools.

A 14-year-old was also charged with disturbing schools and third-degree assault and battery, but his name was removed from the report because he is a juvenile. That teen was released to the custody of his parents.

Horry County police were called at 7:30 a.m. Wednesday for a fight on a school bus on Gardner Lacy Road near the Carolina Forest elementary school, according to the report. The driver told police she heard Courtney threaten to cut the 14-year-old’s throat.

Police learned from the driver and other students on the bus that the teens fought because the 14-year-old was sitting in a seat on the bus that Courtney normally sat in, according to the report. Witnesses said Courtney used a racial slur to the 14-year-old and the younger teen punched Courtney before the boys fought.

Courtney told police he didn’t have a knife, but he wanted the 14-year-old to think he did, according to the report. Police also did not find any weapons.
