Cats | Feral felines have no place in nature

Published: February 6, 2013

The recent news item concerning the needless killing of billions of birds and other wildlife has underscored what I have suspected for years. Cats, whether domesticated or feral, have no place in our wildlife ecosystem. They are not a natural predator in our environment as, for example, a fox would be. The politically charged and overpowered Sav R Cats group has done a great disservice to our natural environment and the well being of our local wildlife population.

All feral cats should be trapped and euthanized; just the opposite of what this group has promoted for years. Those of us who have cats, (we have three), please keep them inside as much as possible. I have witnessed firsthand how even my well fed cat will kill a bird just for the sake of killing it.

As this recent news article has exposed, there are a billion reasons tell this misguided group to stop promoting the needless killing of song birds. It is far past time to cull the rampant feral cat population.
