Man who reported robbery arrested

Myrtle Beach police charged a 20-year-old man with drug possession after he told police he was robbed of his wallet and cellphone by an unknown man, according to a police report.

Samuel Walter Krovitsky, 20, was charged with simple possession of marijuana after officers were called about 5:30 p.m. Monday to 1150 Seaboard St., police said.

Krovitsky told police he drove to the area to talk to someone and he allowed the man to borrow his cellphone, but then they argued about a drug transaction, according to the report. Krovitsky said the suspect grabbed his wallet and cellphone and ran into a nearby wooded area.

Police later found the cellphone in the woods and seized it as evidence. When officers asked Krovitsky if he had anything illegal in his pockets he told them no, but then removed a small container of marijuana, according to the report. Officers seized it.

Three charged in home invasion

Three teens are accused of breaking into a home in the Pee Dee community of Georgetown County, said Georgetown County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Carrie Cuthbertson.

Jamah Davis, 18, Dequan Wilson, 17 and a 16-year-old juvenile are charged with second degree burglary. Davis and Wilson were being held at the Georgetown County Detention Center. The juvenile was given a summons and released to a family member.

The trio is accused of forcing entry into a home on the 500 block of Hicks Drive about 1 p.m. Sunday not realizing people were home, then fleeing.

Kingstree man wanted in shooting

Police are still looking for a Kingstree man wanted for a shooting in Myrtle Beach in January.

Jamal Antwaun Lewis, 26, is wanted on two counts of attempted murder and two counts of possession of a weapon during a violent crime.

He is accused of shooting at a Myrtle Beach man who was driving in his 1999 Honda Accord on Dennison Avenue in the city on Jan. 17, according to a Myrtle Beach police report.

The man was not injured.

North Myrtle Beach’s radio station closes

The city of North Myrtle Beach will close its low power radio station, WNMI 98.7 FM, on Feb. 18, according to information from the city.

The city established the station in 2002 to broadcast general news, information, music and communication with residents during and after hurricanes and other emergencies.

The city has found that use of its websites, email and social media now serves as its primary way of communicating with the public.

The city will return its license to operate the station to the Federal Communications Commission.
