Body piercing not coming to Barefoot Landing in North Myrtle Beach

Published: February 5, 2013

A shop that would offer body piercing isn’t in the works for Barefoot Landing after all.

The shopping and entertainment hub withdrew its request for the city to add body piercing as a permitted use in the venue just hours before the City Council was set to vote on it Monday.

Barefoot told the city in December that it was negotiating with a possible tenant who wanted to open a body jewelry store that also would offer body piercing. On Monday, Barefoot told the city that it no longer wanted the change to allow body piercing.

The letter dated Monday from John Hall, Barefoot’s vice president of operations, requested that the item be removed from Monday’s meeting agenda “and that it also be permanently removed from City Council’s consideration.”

Barefoot officials could not be reached for comment Monday and Tuesday morning.
