— One person is dead and two more injured following a single-vehicle crash early Saturday morning in the Myrtle Beach area, said Horry County Deputy Coroner Darris Fowler.

According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol website, the crash happened at 2:35 a.m. on Carolina Lakes Boulevard, just past Blackstone Street.

The driver of a 2001 BMW SUV suddenly lost control while driving on Carolina Lakes Boulevard and the vehicle went off the road and started rolling, according to the SCHP. It struck a power line guide wire and eventually a tree.

Fowler said Phillip Burnette, 27, of Myrtle Beach was pronounced dead at the scene. He was driving the vehicle at the time of the accident and was wearing a seat belt.

Two others inside the car were taken to Grand Strand Regional Medical Center for treatment of injuries, Fowler added. The SCHP stated they were Tracy Zuelzke and Ashton Stanley, both 25 and also from Myrtle Beach. They were also wearing seat belts.

There was no information as to their conditions.

The crash remains under investigation and Fowler said a toxicology report is expected.
