MYRTLE BEACH Parents who want help navigating the ins and outs of Horry County Schools will be glad to find the online tutorials from How To U, located on the district’s YouTube page.
“The general idea was to provide our community with some of the everyday steps of going digital with our programs,” said district communications specialist Ben Coy, who works with the program.
How To U can be found by going to the district’s website, www.horrycountyschools.net, and scrolling down to the YouTube icon, which will bring up the Horry County Schools page when clicked. The page shows featured playlists, and the second one contains the How To U tutorials.
Coy said the project began last fall, and there are four tutorials to choose from so far. Topics include an overview of how social media is used in the district, quick tips for sharing through social media, quick tips on Facebook notifications and a look at the secondary education guide, which walks through district program options, such as Early College High School and Scholars Academy.
Tutorials will continue to be added to How To U, but the YouTube page also opens other windows on the district, including the latest “Inside Horry County Schools” videos, which run on TV channels 4 and 12.
Teachers earn, renew national certification
Twenty-one Horry County Schools teachers are among the 291 from South Carolina who earned National Board Certification in 2012, according to the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards.
