MYRTLE BEACH — A 47-year-old woman is charged in the stabbing of a 61-year-old man in Little River, according to Horry County police.
Police charged Veronica L. Turner with criminal domestic violence of a high and aggravated nature and she was being held Friday at J. Reuben Long Detention Center
Turner was arrested Thursday after officers responded around 7 p.m. to 3700 Golf Colony Lane in Little River for a stabbing report. Officers said they found a 61-year-old man outside the apartment complex with blood on his shoulder.
Officers tried to calm the man, but he was “very boisterous and was completely uncooperative,” used racial slurs and cursed at police, so the man was handcuffed and detained, the officer wrote in the report. Police learned the man went to a neighbor’s apartment, pushed his way inside and incoherently yelled about being stabbed.
Police found Turner passed out on the couch inside the couple’s apartment, and they found a nearly empty bottle of gin on the table, and a large knife with blood on it on the floor, according to the report. Turner was incoherent and got aggressive with officers when they tried to determine if she was injured.
EMS separately took the man and Turner to Seacoast Medical Center to be checked for injuries. Turner had no injuries and the report did not list the extent of the man’s injuries.
A neighbor told police the couple often fight in front of the apartment complex and can be heard fighting inside their apartment, according to the report. The neighbor said she and her child are afraid of the man and asked for a trespass warning to be issued to him to stay away from her apartment.
No other detail about the incident that lead to the stabbing incident was in the report.
