MYRTLE BEACH — A Myrtle Beach man was ordered to serve 10 years in prison after he pleaded guilty in connection with a string of daytime burglaries last year in the Surfside Beach area, according to authorities.
William Earnest Miller, 48, pleaded guilty to burglary. Circuit Court Judge Benjamin Culbertson sentenced him and gave him credit for the time he’s served since being arrested in October, according to court records. Miller also must pay court costs and according to the S.C. Department of Corrections he is eligible for parole in May 2015.
Miller was originally charged with one count of first-degree burglary; three counts of second-degree burglary; nine counts of possession of burglary tools; 25 counts non-violent burglary charges; 12 counts receiving stolen goods with a value of less than $2,000; four counts of obtaining signature or property under false pretenses with a value less than $2,000; eight counts of obtaining signature or goods under false pretenses with a value of $1,000 or less; one count of breach of trust with a value of $1,000 to $5,000; and criminal conspiracy, according to records at J. Reuben Long Detention Center.
Most of those charges are pending, but will likely be dismissed following Miller’s plea.
Charged along with Miller was Ray Allen Bell, 48, of Greenville, who remains jailed at the detention center and his charges are pending.
Charges against Bell include: four counts of second-degree burglary; nine counts of possession of burglary tools; 23 counts of non-violent burglary; and one count each of obtaining signature or property by false pretenses with a value under $2,000, criminal conspiracy, driving under suspension, failure to return license plate and registration upon loss of insurance and operating an uninsured vehicle.
The charges against both men stem from incidents in Surfside Beach and Horry County police jurisdiction. The men were arrested in October at a Myrtle Beach motel and police connected them to the multiple incidents.
