I want to thank Kurt Schwinger for his Jan. 8 letter, “Enact strict limits on assault weapons.” I think a copy of that letter should be sent to each member of the legislature, both state and federal.
Our “right to bear arms” was written at a time when a weapon was necessary, not just for self-protection, but for obtaining food. If one were to use an automatic weapon for hunting there wouldn’t be much left of the animal to be used as food.
Times have changed and so should our laws.
The writer lives in Myrtle Beach.
