MYRTLE BEACH A masked man who apologized while robbing a pizza business early Wednesday, may be the suspect in a second holdup that happened less than four hours earlier.
Myrtle Beach police Lt. John Bertang said detectives are investigating the two crimes, in which the suspects were dressed similarly, as being related.
Police said the victims described the robber as a man wearing all black with a black ski mask covering his face during the incidents.
The first robbery happened about 1 a.m. Wednesday at the Comfort Inn and Suites at 601 S. Ocean Blvd.
An employee told police that while sitting at the front desk, a man walked into the lobby, pointed a handgun at him and demanded money, according to the report. The employee gave the robber money from the cash drawer and the robber ran out the door.
About two hours later at 3 a.m. Wednesday, officers were called to the Pizza Shak at 5917 N. Kings Highway for an armed robbery.
An employee there told officers that the delivery driver left the business on a run and as he drove away a man walked in through the front door, according to the report. The employee said the robber, dressed in black and wearing a black ski mask, walked to the counter, pointed a handgun at her and said “Give me all your money.”
The employee said she raised her hands up, walked to the cash register and opened it, according to the report. The employee said the robber grabbed money from the register and, as he took it, said “Sorry I have to do this.”
The robber then left the business and the employee estimated he took about $40, according to the report.
