A Myrtle Beach man was killed Thursday night when the motorcycle he was test driving left a parking lot and crashed into a ditch and tree, according to authorities.
David Walsh, 47, of Myrtle Beach was pronounced dead at 7:50 p.m. Thursday at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center, Horry County Coroner Robert Edge said. Walsh died from multiple traumas.
The crash happened about 6:20 p.m. Thursday as Walsh test drove a motorcycle from the parking lot of Dunes Cycles at S.C. 707 near Salem Road, according to authorities.
Walsh drove the motorcycle out of the parking lot and it crossed S.C. 707 and struck a ditch then a tree, said Lance Cpl. Sonny Collins with the S.C. Highway Patrol. It was unclear if Walsh was wearing a helmet.
The cause of the crash is under investigation, Collins said.
Walsh was the only person on the motorcycle and the bike was the only vehicle involved, Collins said.
