An 18-year-old woman is behind bars at the Georgetown County Detention Center in connection with a knife attack on her cousin that occurred Thursday evening in Andrews.

Georgetown County Sheriff’s Office Public Information Officer Carrie Cuthbertson confirmed Friday evening that Laswana Gamble, 18, of Winyah Street in Georgetown, had been captured.

At 5:25 p.m. Thursday, deputies were called to 138 Mahogany Ave., in Andrews for a report of a woman being cut by a knife, Cuthbertson said in a release. Deputies said Gamble argued with the victim, which escalated to Gamble pulling a knife out of her purse and attacking the victim.

The victim suffered multiple wounds and was transported to the Georgetown Memorial Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, Cuthbertson said. Gamble had left the location when deputies arrived.
