Myrtle Beach police charged an 18-year-old man and 19-year-old woman in connection with a Broadway at the Beach security guard being hit in the face with a beer bottle after he tried to escort the man out of a bar, according to a police report.

Steve Austin McNeill, 18, was charged with simple assault and battery while Chelsea Brianna Canady, 19, was charged with second-degree assault and battery following the incident that occurred about 12:45 a.m. Tuesday at 1318 Celebrity Circle, police said. McNeill and Canady are from Lumberton, N.C., and were being held at 8 a.m. Wednesday at the Myrtle Beach Jail pending a bond hearing.

A 23-year-old man was treated for a severe cut to his face after witnesses said Canady hit him in the face with a beer bottle while he fought with McNeill, according to the report. A witness said the man, who is a bouncer, tried to escort McNeill from the bar, which was not identified in the report.

McNeill punched the bouncer in the head twice before the victim took him to the ground and held him down, according to the report. While the victim was holding McNeill, the witness said Canady took a beer bottle and hit the bouncer in the face.

A security guard for Broadway at the Beach then detained Canady and called police.

McNeill told police the victim tried to escort him out of the bar and they started fighting, according to the report. Canady had a cut on her hand and was taken to Grand Strand Regional Medical Center for treatment.

The victim also was taken to the hospital for treatment.

Police learned McNeill initially gave them a fake identification card and later gave them his real name and information, according to the report.
