Inside the final day of Beach Ball action

Scoring machine

• Bishop Gorman’s Rashad Muhammad scored a game-high 30 points, going 8 of 16 from the field and 12 of 15 from the foul line in a 61-58 win over Rufus King in the fifth-place game.

Number crunching

• The loneliest number may also be the scariest number for teams on Whitney Young’s schedule in 2013-14 – one. That is the number of seniors – guard Ausar Madison – in the Dolphins’ starting lineup this season. There are only two seniors on the entire roster.

Highlight reel

• Whitney Young 6-4 junior L.J. Peak displayed why he won the dunk contest by soaring high above the rim in traffic to finish an alley-oop from Miles Reynolds emphatically with two hands in the Dolphins’ championship game win.

Game of the day

• A 3-pointer from Rufus King’s Austin Malone-Mitchell at the buzzer tied the score at 49 and forced overtime, but Bishop Gorman was solid at the foul line in the extra stanza to hold on for 61-58 victory in the fifth-place game. All 12 of the Gaels’ points in overtime came from the foul line. Noah Robotham was 6-for-6 and Muhammad was 6-for-8.
