Nonpartisan

• Join the Carolina Patriots Jan. 15 when their guest speakers will be Horry County Councilman Al Allen and former Horry councilman Mark Lazarus. Both are running to replace Rep. Tom Rice as county chairman.

Democrats

• Grab breakfast at 8 a.m. Jan. 11 at Akel’s Family Restaurant with the Beach Dems.

Bennie Swans will be the guest speaker and discuss plans for a Martin Luther King Day celebration. All are welcome and no reservations are required.

Akel’s is located at 6429 N. Kings Highway.

• Horry County Republicans will host its monthly meeting Jan. 7 featuring comments from retired U.S. Army Col. Ken Allard and Jennie Smith, founder of Coastline Women’s Center.

The meeting will be held at 6 p.m. at Horry County GOP headquarters at The Founders Center on Oak Street in Myrtle Beach.
