Free home buying workshop in Georgetown filling up

Published: December 28, 2012

About 10 spots are left for a free, first-time homebuyer workshop in Georgetown next month.

The workshop will give information about the steps to take in buying a house, budgeting, preparing to move and going through the closing process. The workshop, which is free with lunch provided, will be from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Jan. 12 at Georgetown Library, 405 Cleland St.

Registration is required. Call (843) 973-7285 or email debra@lowcountryhousingtrust.org.

Residents who complete the workshop can qualify for down payment and other homebuyer assistance programs.

Georgetown County has partnered with the Bunnelle Foundation, Lowcountry Housing Trust and the Charleston Trident Urban League to sponsor the workshops. The first one was in October in Pawleys Island.

Two more workshops are in the works, but the dates haven’t yet been set.
