Fiscal cliff negotiations continue

Members of Congress are expected to return to Washington, D.C., Thursday to work to avoid going over the fiscal cliff. If the White House and Congress are unable to reach an agreement by year’s end, by law the across-the-board tax hikes and spending cuts will go into effect.

Beach Ball tips off

Some of the top high school basketball talent from across the country convenes at the Myrtle Beach Convention Center from Wednesday through Dec. 31 for the Beach Ball Classic. Local teams in the field this year include Myrtle Beach, Socastee and first-time participant St. James.
