Lucia Sloan, just two days old, yawns as a pulse oximeter is attached to her right wrist at Conway Medical Center on Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2012. The non-invasive pulse oximeter measures the blood for oxygen saturation. Conway Medical Center is using the pulse oximeters on the right hand and either foot for the measurements in a test for congenital heart defects. If the numbers from each measurement differ by three percent, the infant is referred to a cardiologist. Lucia Sloan has identical measurements at 100 on her foot and right hand.
