The bridge is dated "2004." Paths have been cut through the thick woods, but now weeds choke the sign posts and push between the gaps in the road. Grass grows over much of the roadway path that would have been a multi-lane bypass. Traffic is directed to choose S.C. 544 north or south as S.C. 31 ends in the Socastee community of Horry County on Saturday, Dec. 8, 2012.
