Conway police have charged a 19-year-old man in connection with the armed robbery of a taxi driver, and are searching for a second suspect in the incident, according to a news release.

Tony Sylvester Green, 19, of Conway was booked into J. Reuben Long Detention Center on Saturday, charged with armed robbery, kidnapping and simple possession of marijuana, according to jail records. He is being held pending a bail hearing.

The armed robbery was reported Nov. 5, when the taxi driver called Conway police to say he'd been robbed at gunpoint by two men he had picked up at an apartment on Oak Street.

The victim said he drove the men to the Shell gas station on Main Street then back to the apartment, according to the release. One of the men asked the driver to wait while he went inside to get money for the cab fare.

After a few minutes, both men came out of the apartment, the driver told police. One approached the passenger side of the cab, pointed a gun and demanded his money, according to the report. The driver, who was not hurt, said he gave the man his wallet and left the scene to call police.
