Seminar Monday for women with Cancer

The American Cancer Society is hosting a program for women currently or recently undergoing cancer treatments called Look Good … Feel Better.

The event is free and will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. on Dec. 3 at the Coastal Cancer Center at 8121 Rourk St. in Myrtle Beach.

Women in treatment, or within six months before or after treatment can register by calling 800-227-2345.

The program provides personalized makeovers and gives the women a makeup kit.

Coats for Kids still being accepted

Coast RTA has extended the deadline to donate outerwear for its Coats for Kids campaign, with five drop-off locations in the city of Myrtle Beach.

Donations of new and gently worn coats, jackets, sweaters, gloves, hats and blankets are being accepted through Friday at five city building drop-off locations.

Locations in Myrtle Beach include City Hall, the City Services Building, Chapin Memorial Library, Ted C. Collins Law Enforcement Center and the Law Enforcement Center Annex.

Coats also can be dropped off at the Coast RTA main terminal located at 1418 Third Ave. in Conway.

Coast RTA will collect the boxes from the city locations and plans to distribute them Dec. 15 at the National Guard Armory.

Pearl Harbor Day

National Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day is Friday, a time to honor members of our military and pay tribute to the more than 3,500 Americans killed or wounded during that attack.

Hanukkah begins Saturday

Hanukkah, also known as the festival of lights, begins Saturday evening and lasts until the evening of Dec. 16. Local temples have activities scheduled throughout the holiday.

‘American Idol’ finalist returns to CCU

Coastal Carolina University alum and “American Idol” finalist Elise Testone will perform a concert at her alma mater Wednesday. The concert begins at 7:30 p.m. at Wheelwright Auditorium. For more information, call 349-2787.
