A girl fell from a float and was run over during the Murrells Inlet Christmas parade Sunday afternoon, according to state highway officials.

An 8-year-old girl was riding a float being pulled by a Chevrolet pickup truck on U.S. 17 Business at about 3:50 p.m. when she fell from the float and was run over, said S.C. Highway Patrol Lance Cpl. Judd Jones.

The girl was airlifted to the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston in serious but non-life threatening condition, Jones said.
