Coastal Carolina men’s soccer team beats Wake Forest, reaches third round of NCAAs

— The Coastal Carolina men’s soccer team rallied back to beat Wake Forest 2-1 in overtime Saturday to advance to the third round of the NCAA tournament for the second time in program history.

Jakub Stourac scored in the 99th minute to complete a come-from-behind victory over the Demon Deacons that catapulted the Chanticleers into the Sweet 16.

Coastal trailed 1-0 after Michael Gamble found the back of the net in the fourth minute.

The Chants tied the game in the second half when Justin Portillo scored in the 65th minute.

Coastal (20-2-2) advances to play Maryland next Sunday.

The Chanticleers last made it to the Sweet 16 in 2003, when they beat North Carolina. Coastal lost to Santa Clara in overtime in the next contest.

The Chants also matched 2003 for the most wins in program history.
