‘Sting’ opera at movies

See two special shows on the silver screen at Cinemark at Coastal Grand mall, off Seaboard Street in Myrtle Beach Details at 839-3225.

• “The Sting” at 2 and 7 p.m., at regular ticket prices: matinees $6 ages 12 and older, and $5.75 ages 1-11; evenings $8 ages 12 and older, $7 military, students, and residents of Horry and Georgetown counties with ID, and $5.75 for ages 62 and older, and 1-11.

• “Met Live” opera encore “Otello” at 6:30 p.m., for $22 adults, $20 seniors/students and $15 children.

Book sale at library

The Friends of the Surfside Beach Library has a book sale on the second Wednesday monthly, including CDs, DVDs, audiobooks and puzzles, with most items costing 25 cents-$2. Details at 238-5969 for the Friends group, or from the library at 205-5280 or www.hcml.org.

Two events at CCU

• A “Native American Celebration,” with dance, music and lectures by American Indians, 6 p.m. at in Edwards Recital Hall, for free.

• The quintet Imani (meaning “faith” in Swahili) Winds in concert, 7:30 p.m. in Wheelwright Auditorium; $15 or $20 general admission; $10 CCU and Horry-Georgetown Technical College faculty and staff; $5 CCU and HGTC students and ages 10 and younger; and $5 discount for ages 11-17 and 65 and older, and Osher Lifelong Learning Institute members.

Killer Beaz on stage

Killer Beaz, known for fast storytelling, with many punch-lines, will perform nightly through Saturday, with David Beck and Cooter Douglas opening. Details at 449-4242 or comedycabana.com.

2 Live Crew perform
