Two events for veterans

Two more Veterans Day-theme events remain:

• Celebration benefiting Canine Angels of North Myrtle Beach, which provides service dogs for veterans with disabilities, 6-9 p.m. at Flo’s Place Restaurant & Bar, 3797 U.S. 17 Business, Murrells Inlet; $10. 910-398-7850 or www.canine-angels.net.

• Eighth annual “Salute to American Veterans,” including the film “Swamp Fox: Francis Marion and the American Revolution,” 7:30 p.m. at Coastal Carolina University’s Wheelwright Auditorium, off U.S. 501 in Conway; free with ticket: call 349-2502.

Two events at CCU

Choose from two special events in Coastal Carolina University’s Edwards Recital Hall, in Conway:

• “Think Before You Touch: and other maxims in archaeology,” a free lecture by Maria Jacobsen, head archaeologist at Warren Lasch Conservation Center in Charleston, covering the preservation, excavation and study of the Confederate submarine H.L. • CCU Flute Studio’s fall recital with two pianists, covering classical and modern flute compositions, 7:30 p.m.; $3, and free for CCU and Horry-Georgetown Technical College students, staff and faculty, and for ages 10 and younger.

Elvis Fan Club gathers

Shadrack’s Christmas Wonderland is open nightly through Jan. 6, with a drive-through parking lot light display and a Santa’s Village – with Santa on hand Nov. 9-Dec. 23 – on the Myrtle Beach Pelicans’ stadium third-base concourse and beach and inflatable area, with a petting zoo and activities, some for an extra fee.
