‘Dorothy Meets Alice’

What would it be like if Dorothy of “The Wizard of Oz” and Alice of “Alice in Wonderland” met? Stagestruck Players, the youth division of the Brunswick Little Players, will shed some possibilities on how such pairings might work in “Dorothy Meets Alice or The Wizard of Wonderland.”

See performances at 7:30 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, and 3 p.m. Sundays, through Nov. 18 at Playhouse 211 at St. James, 4320 Southport-Supply Road (N.C. 211).

Tickets are $17 for adults, $12 ages 13-17, and $6 ages 12 and younger. Also, for opening night, on Friday only, one child is admitted free with an adult buying a ticket.

‘Movies on Main’ in Conway

Theatre of the Republic’s “Movies on Main” classic film series has returned, with a schedule booked through spring at the Main Street Theatre, 337 Main St., Conway.

Bird-watching excursions

Jerry Walls, a naturalist from Hemingway, has two guided bird-watching treks the next two weekends, both with reservations required.

A “Bird ID Workshop & Guided Bird Walk” is 9-11 a.m. Saturday at the Waccamaw National Wildlife Refuge, on U.S. 701, 20 miles north of Georgetown, at the Georgetown/Horry County line. Cost is $10 adults, $5 ages 10-17. Call 933-1372 or email jwalls443@gmail.com.

Also, the deadline is Monday to sign up for the next guided birding/nature trip across Hobcaw Barony. The five-hour tour departs at 8 a.m. Nov. 17 – and on the third Saturday monthly – from Hobcaw’s welcome center, across 17,500 acres on U.S. 17, just north of Georgetown. ‘Durang Durang’ double feature

Atlantic Stage continues its fifth season with “Durang Durang,” two single-act plays by Christopher Durang – “Sister Mary Ignatius Explains It All for You” and “The Actor’s Nightmare” – weekends through Nov. 25 in the 79th Avenue Theatre, at Coastal Carolina University’s Myrtle Beach Education Center, at U.S. 17 Bypass

Show times for this dark comedy, geared to mature audiences, are 7:30 p.m. Thursdays (but not Nov. 22), Fridays and Saturdays, as well as 3 p.m. Nov. 24, and 3 p.m. Sundays, with talks with the cast and crew after the Nov. 11 and 18 shows.

Also, to assist Help for Kids Back Pack Buddies, a group that gives food and school supplies to needy children in Horry County, Atlantic Stage asks all patrons to bring donations such as pencils, crayons, cereal and fruit cups, to the theater. See a full list of requested goods at help4kidssc.com.

‘Reel Ladies’ go out monthly

The Reel Ladies Dinner and Movie Group continues its third season of monthly dinners and a movie at The Market Common in Myrtle Beach, and helping local charities, and all women are welcome.

The group’s next outing is Tuesday with dinner at 4 p.m. at PF Chang’s China Bistro, at The Market Common in Myrtle Beach, and a movie around the corner at the Grand 14 Cinema.

The cost is $17.50 for dinner, a beverage, tax and tip – cash only at the door – and reservations are required and due Saturday by emailing kltreiber316@gmail.com or franw88@msn.com. Also, Reel Ladies also can pick any movie, before or after dinner on Tuesday, for $4.50

Two free door prizes will be drawn, and everyone attending is asked to being small-size toiletries or soap. Eighty-three women turned out last month. Details at 957-3406.
