Police conduct drug operation in Conway

Conway police, along with several other agencies, conducted a drug interdiction operation Thursday that included the seizure of $900 being seized, according to a release issued Monday.

Officers focused the operation on the areas of Huckabee Heights, Darden Terrace and Ninth Avenue, and corridors that connect those areas, according to the release.

The operation began at 6 p.m. and finished a little after 12 a.m. Friday, police said.

During the operation 68 “enforcement contacts” were made, including six for drug violations, $900 was seized and one outstanding warrant was served, according to the release.

Police charge man with exposing himself

A 42-year-old man was charged Sunday night with exposing himself to a woman inside a laundry mat last month, according to police reports.

William Bernard McFadden, 42, of Myrtle Beach was charged with disorderly conduct/nudity when he was taken into custody about 5 p.m. Sunday at 602 Broadway St., according to an arrest report.

The charge stemmed from Oct. 12 when a woman told officers she was washing clothes at a laundry and the man exposed himself.

Beating, robbery reported in store lot

A 40-year-old man was beaten and robbed by several men in the parking lot of a local department store, according to a police report.

The victim and a witness told police that about 4 p.m. Sunday in the parking lot of Target at 1150 Seaboard St., four or five men were attacking the victim, police said.

The victim did not speak English, communicated communicate to police the suspects threw him to the ground and took his money, according to the report.

The witness told police he saw the men hitting the victim, blew his car horn and the suspects ran into the woods that go to Quail Marsh Apartments, located behind the store, according to the report. Police are investigating.

Police investigate parking lot shooting

Myrtle Beach police are investigating a report that two men may have shot at each other after an argument a in parking lot, according to a police report.

Officers were called at 3:50 a.m. Sunday to 516 Eighth Ave. N., where several people were detained by security guards after gunshots were fired in the area, police said.

A woman, whose age was not listed in the report told police her current boyfriend and former boyfriend, both 27 and from Myrtle Beach, had been involved in an altercation earlier that evening, according to the report. The men went to their respective vehicles, and the woman said her boyfriend was still upset so he left the vehicle to confront the other man.

The woman said the men walked out of sight of everyone and then they heard five gunshots, according to the report. The woman’s boyfriend ran from the area and an officer, who was nearby, reported seeing a vehicle speed away from the area.

Police did not find any evidence of a shooting and no one saw the shooting.

Man missing for four days

Conway police are looking for a man last seen at his home four days ago.

Melvin Jackson, 53, of Durant Street in Conway, hasn’t been seen since Nov. 1. Anyone with information about his whereabouts is asked to call Conway police at 248-1790.

He is 5’10” and weighs 150 pounds with brown hair, black eyes, a mustache and partial goatee.

Gas prices continue to decline across state

The average retail gasoline prices in South Carolina decreased by 9.5 cents per gallon in the past week to average $3.12 Sunday, which is more than the decrease of the national average of 5.6 cents per gallon to $3.51, according to gasoline price website SouthCarolinaGasPrices.com.

Prices on Sunday were 4.6 cents per gallon lower than the same day a year ago and are 33 cents per gallon lower than a month ago, according to the site. The national average has decreased 28.4 cents per gallon during the last month and is 7 cents per gallon higher than a year ago.

Oyster Roast returning

The annual Murrells Inlet 2020 Oyster Roast fundraiser is back for the ninth year on Nov. 17 from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. in the parking lot at Spud’s Waterfront Dining.

Admission is free, but all-you-can-eat oyster roast tickets cost $30 per person in advance and $35 at the door. Oyster knives will be available for purchase, but diners can bring their own. Oyster tables close at 2:30 p.m.

Other food items and drinks will be sold separately.
