FAQs regarding The Sun News Plus

Staff reportNovember 2, 2012

Q. What is The Sun News Plus?
The Sun News + provides immediate and unlimited access to all content on our newspaper’s website (Myrtlebeachonline.com), our mobile site (m.myrtlebeachonline.com), our iPhone and Android apps, and our electronic replica edition (E-Edition), in addition to your printed newspaper subscription. The Sun News Plus bundles all the ways you can read The The Sun News’s content into one price.

Q. How does the digital subscription work?
With a digital subscription, you will have unlimited access to all digital content. Without a digital subscription, you will have unlimited access to some portions of our site, including the Home Page, section fronts, Dealsaver and all advertising. Access to some other content will be limited to 15 pages every 30 days. Once you reach the 15-page limit, you’ll need to subscribe or wait 30 days to view additional content.

Q. What are my digital subscription options?
There are several options. The Sun News newspaper subscribers can add the digital bundle with unlimited digital access. If you want digital-only access, without a print subscription, the digital bundle alone is $6.95 per month (or $69.95 per year if paid annually). For occasional readers, a one-time, one-month trial is available for 99 cents.

Q. What if I already renewed my newspaper subscription? Do I have to pay extra now?
The digital bundle charges will begin with your next renewal. If you’ve already made your payment for 13, 26 or 52 weeks you’ll have access to the digital package without charge until your next subscription payment is due.

Q. How do I access my digital subscription?
Once you purchase your digital subscription, you will be logged in to your account from the device you used to make the purchase. You don’t have to do anything else to access the Myrtlebeachonline content.

However, if you switch to another device or clear your login data, you may be asked to subscribe. If that happens, simply click the “Sign In” button on the top left corner of that screen and enter your e-mail address and the password you selected.

Q. Can I comment or read the comments without paying for a digital subscription?
You may, until you reach 15 free pages. After that, you’ll need a digital subscription.

Q. Will I be able to use my free Myrtlebeachonline iPhone or Android app without paying for a digital subscription?
A digital subscription will allow you unlimited access to all content on the apps and to our E-edition.

Without a digital subscription, you will have unlimited access to some content, including the Home Page, section fronts, Dealsaver and all advertising. Access to other content will be limited to 15 pages every 30 days. Once you reach the 15-page limit, you’ll need to subscribe or wait 30 days to view additional content.

Q. What if I don’t want digital access?
Most of our readers use Myrtlebeachonline.com or our mobile apps, so bundling them makes sense. But if you never use the website, don’t have a smartphone or tablet, you can opt out of the digital portion. To opt out, just call us at 866-780-0786. However for just pennies a day you can keep the digital access and let a family member use it. Do you have children away at college or that have relocated? This is a perfect way for them to connect to the Grand Strand.

Q. What happens if I use only a few of my “free” pages when the month runs out?
The count starts over every 30 days, not on a monthly calendar.

Q. Can everyone in my household use the same digital account?
Yes. Your digital subscription can be shared with up to five mobile app users.

Q. Is access to the e-Edition included in my digital subscription?
Yes. Just enter the account information for your digital subscription when prompted. For the iPad e-Edition, customers also need to subscribe through iTunes.

Q. I subscribe to The Sun News newspaper, but not for all 7 days. Do I still receive the home delivery discount for a digital subscription?
Yes. All home delivery subscribers can add the digital bundle. Your digital access is good 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
