As the scores began to come in, excitement grew as the first 17 matches were neck-and-neck, with each side tied at 8.5 points each. The women then posted wins in the next two matches, giving them a 10.5 to 8.5 lead. Match 20 was halved, guaranteeing the women at least a tie, with two matches yet to play and the score then at 11 to 9. The women won match 21, giving them a winning 12 points. The men did finish with a win, however, bringing the final score of this new tournament to 12 - 10 in favor of the women.
