— A 21-year-old Myrtle Beach man was charged with assault and kidnapping after police were notified that a 19-year-old woman was beaten and held in a motel room, according to a police report.

David Lee Trent Warner was charged with criminal domestic violence of a high and aggravated nature and kidnapping after the woman went to the police department at 3 a.m. Sunday to report the incident.

The victim told officers that she argued with her boyfriend in a room at the Ocean West Motel at 204 N. Kings Highway, which is where they were staying, according to the report. The victim said Warner got upset and struck her in the head and face, threatened her with a knife and refused to allow her to leave the room.

The woman told police that Warner threatened to kill her, so she called her mother because she feared for her life, according to the report. The victim’s mother picked her up and told police that Warner would not allow her inside the room at first.

The victim’s mother told officers that she heard Warner yelling at the victim and saw him with a metal wrench, according to the report. The victim’s mother told police that he chased after the vehicle on foot as they left and threatened to harm their family.

Officers noted the victim’s left eye was swollen shut. Officers took Warner into custody at the motel and charged him, according to the police report. Warner is being held at the Myrtle Beach jail pending a bond hearing.
