MURRELLS INLET — Police said male suspect robbed a Murells Inlet gas station at gunpoint Sunday evening.

According to a press release from the Georgetown County Sheriff’s Office, a male suspect went into the Citgo gas station located at 3741 Highway 17 Bypass armed with “what appeared to be a handgun” at about 7:45 p.m. Sunday and demanded money from an employee.

The employee told police the suspect ran out of the front door and fled in an unknown direction.

Police ask anyone with information about the incident to call the Georgetown County Sheriff’s Office at 546-5101. Tips can also be given anonymously through Text-A-Tip by texting “GCSOTIP” and the message to 274637.
