Man charged with choking girlfriend

Horry County police arrested a Loris man after his girlfriend told officers he hit her in the head with a cell phone and repeatedly choked her inside their home, according to a police report.

Benjamin Adam Burghard, 39, of Loris was charged with kidnapping and criminal domestic violence of a high and aggravated nature on Wednesday.

Moped stolen after man struck with stick

A 30-year-old man told Myrtle Beach police he was hit in the face with a stick and had his mo-ped stolen when he stopped while driving along 15th Avenue South near Yaupon Drive, according to a police report.

The victim told officers he was driving to the store about 1:45 a.m. Thursday when he saw two men and they asked him for a cigarette, police said.

The victim said when he stopped to say he didn’t have a cigarette one of the men hit him in the face with a stick. The other took the mo-ped and drove away.

GEORGETOWN COUNTY

Stabbing brings attempted murder charge

A Georgetown man is in jail after a stabbing Thursday in the Green Acres community off U.S. 701.

Reginald Funnye, 30, of Georgetown is charged with attempted murder and first degree burglary. He was being held at the Georgetown County Detention Center.

CONWAY

City tractor still missing

A John Deere tractor is still missing from the City of Conway.

The tractor was taken from a job site off New Road in Conway at the start of the month. Police responded to the work site at 8 a.m. on Oct. 3 where Conway city workers said the tractor had been parked at the site on Oct. 2, but was gone the next morning.

The tractor is a 2008 JD-6415 John Deere Tractor with an enclosed cab and City of Conway decals. ST-25 is stenciled on the hood.

A Tiger 360 Heavy Duty Flail Mower was attached to the tractor.

Anyone with information about the machinery should call Conway police.

The Horry County Memorial Libary’s Loris branch will be closed on Saturday, Oct. 20.

Patrons who need to utilize the library may visit the Green Sea-Floyds branch located at 5331 Hwy. 9 in Green Sea or the Stephens Crossroads branch at 107 Hwy 57 North in Little River

Seaside Elementary to host fall festival

Seaside Elementary School’s Parent Teacher Organization will host a fall festival Oct. 20. The festival will be held at the school, 1605 Woodland Drive, Garden City Beach, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The cost for wristbands for kids activities and games will be $10. Additional games will be available at costs ranging from $0.25 to $1.
