— Police arrested a Myrtle Beach man Sunday alleging he assaulted his girlfriend and threw her dog against a wall.

Randy Joseph Thompson, 23, was charged with criminal domestic violence, mistreatment of animals and hindering arrest.

According to a Myrtle Beach police report, officers responded to the Super 8 Motel located at 3450 South U.S. Highway 17 shortly after 2 a.m. Sunday and spoke to a 30-year-old woman. The victim said she and Thompson argued and resolved the argument before going out to a bar. When they returned from the bar, the victim said Thompson sensed she was still angry with him and they began to argue again.

The victim said she tried to lock herself in the bathroom but Thompson pushed the door open causing her to fall into the bath tub and hit her head. She told police Thompson then cornered her and pushed her into the wall, causing her to hit her head again.

The victim said Thompson then took her dog and left the room and she chased him into the stairwell. She told police she tried to get her dog back and Thompson threw the dog into the wall. The victim said she slapped Thompson on his arm and he pushed her again, causing her to hit her head a third time. Motel guests heard the noise and called 911.

Officers located Thompson outside the hotel by the victim’s vehicle and said he did not cooperate with police. Thompson had no prior charges for criminal domestic violence, according to the report.
