— A man died from stab wounds he received in grocery store parking lot in Myrtle Beach on Saturday afternoon, a coroner said, and another man has been charged with murder.

Willie Ray Dixon, 37, of the Myrtle Beach area was pronounced dead at Grand Strand Medical Center at 5:29 p.m., hours after being stabbed, said Horry County coroner Darris Fowler. An autopsy was performed Sunday and preliminary information determined he died of stabbing to vital organs.

Police apprehended Marcus Augusta Hudson, 27, of Andrews on the scene after a witness identified him as the suspect in the incident, said Myrtle Beach Police Sgt. Janet Hardee. He was charged Sunday with murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime. Police took him into custody Saturday on a bench warrant for unrelated charges.

According to a Myrtle Beach Police report, officers responded to the Food Lion located at 1430 S. Kings Highway at about 12:30 p.m. for a reported assault. Officers near the scene apprehended Hudson on the east side of Kings Highway. Officers found Dixon in the parking lot suffering from stab wounds to his back, according to the report.

Hudson is being held at the Myrtle Beach jail. No bond had been set as of 4:30 p.m. Sunday.
