Saturday’s area sports briefs

The 16th-ranked Coastal Carolina Chanticleers’ Men’s soccer team improved to 3-0 in the Big South with a 3-0 shut out of Presbyterian on Saturday. The Chants have won all three conference games by shutting out their opponents.

Ashton Bennett, Robby Joe Daniels and Jakub Stourac each found the goal in the game for Coastal, who is 8-1-2 overall.

The Chanticleers outshot the Blue Hose, finishing with a 24-5 advantage, including 15-2 in the first half.

CCU women’s soccer

•  The Chanticleers picked up their second Big South victory by shutting out Longwood 2-0. It also was the first loss in the conference for Longwood.

Ashley Day scored the first one of the game at the 61st minute and Fia Jonsson picked up an assist on the goal. Kacey Kelly tacked on the insurance goal for Coastal, who is 5-6 overall and 2-2 in the Big South.

CCU volleyball

•  The Chants dropped the first two sets but rallied for a 5 set victory over Campbell 21-25, 23-25, 25-13, 25-22, 15-11.

Gabriella Horvath led the way for Coastal, who is now 5-8 overall and 3-1 in the Big South, with 21 kills. Lauren Alejo had 51 assists to led the Chanticleers, Jamie DiMaggio led with 22 digs, Eszter Nagy added 14 kills and Sam Skryd had 12 digs.
