Donations: The Ladies of Antioch Baptist Church’s WMU are collecting bags of beans through September. All collections will be donated to the “Grits N Grace” Food Bank in Aynor on Oct. 5. Call 430-1491.

Volunteers: Horry County Literacy Council seeks volunteer tutors for adults in need of educational services. Office hours are Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. The Council is located at 3101 Oak St. in the Myrtle Beach Family Learning Center. Call 839-1695.

Donations: Atlantic Stage is preparing for a fundraising “Treasure Festival” in April and is collecting upscale yard sale items such as home decor, furniture, jewelry, collectibles, tools and cool stuff. Sponsors: Bikini Beach Cat Rescue invites citizens to sponsor the spay or neuter of a least one animal in honor of National Feral Cat Day, an international campaign of Alley Cat Allies, to promote the life-saving benefits of spay/neuter at The Cat’s Meow in Myrtle Beach and at The Animal Hospital & Laser Center in Pawleys Island, on Oct. 16. Volunteers: The Stewart Parker Designer Showhouse needs volunteers to host rooms at the showhouse at 1003 Front St. next to the Kaminski House Museum in Georgetown. Volunteers: The Myrtle Beach International Airport is seeking senior citizens to volunteer at the information booths and assist travelers at the Myrtle Beach International Airport. The hours for available shifts are 6-11 a.m. and 4-9 p.m. The position requires a “people-oriented” person to answer questions from passengers about services provided at the Myrtle Beach International Airport as well as questions regarding the Myrtle Beach area. Jewelry donations: The Friends of Waccamaw Library needs donations of newly created or gently worn jewelry and accessories. FOWL will hold its 22nd Annual Luncheon and Auction “Jewelry & More” from 11:30 a.m.-2 p.m. on Oct. 9 at the Litchfield Country Club. Proceeds provide programming and support for the Waccamaw children’s librarian. Tickets are $35 ($25 of which is tax-deductible) and are available at 314-3534. Donations: Operation Christmas Child needs your help to fill a shoe box with school supplies, toys, necessity items and a note of encouragement for a child overseas suffering due to disaster, disease, war, terrorism, famine or poverty.
